If you are one of the 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, traveling may often pose as a nuisance rather than a relaxing getaway from your day-job and other worries. Starving to find your next Halal meal and a safe space to pray can pose as serious issues. Not to mention the varying degrees of comfort individual Muslims need when visiting tourist hot-spots. Beyond looking at the teachings of the scriptures, the fact remains that our boundaries differ between Muslim to Muslim on a very large scale.
PLAN AHEAD! You can visit all corners of the earth if you just plan ahead. Learn to be self-sufficient while you are away from home. Look up all the halal food options you will have at your destination. If there are none available, there is surely vegetarian and seafood based meals available to keep you full. Plan your itinerary to fit in your prayers. If you are uncomfortable with swimwear on beaches, go when they are emptier. A little bit of scheduling can go a long way.
Trek through Machu Picchu. Take the Goa Express Train through India. Ski in the Swiss Alps. Spend a week in a holiday resort in Cuba. All you must do is plan your religious responsibilities ahead of time. Break free of the stereotypes that we too often put on ourselves as Muslim travelers and let others follow you. The best adventures are those taken on the road less traveled.
