Disney: a household name that has become synonymous with family entertainment. As we began our search for Halal friendly cruises, it was only common sense to start at Disney Cruises. While there were some brief and scattered clues on the web, we approached Disney Cruise Line directly to check the availability of Halal food on-board their ships.

And we were delighted to find out that Halal & Kosher options are indeed available on all four their ships: Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Magic, & Disney Wonder.

Here is an excerpt from our exchange with Disney:

“With advance notice, we will do our reasonable best to accommodate requests for halal meat. The halal meat served onboard Disney Cruise Line vessels is procured through independent vendors, who prepare and provide meat options which are consistent with strict Islamic tradition and halal doctrine.

So that we may provide proper attention and accommodation for your dietary needs, we encourage you to dine in the full-service dining rooms for all meals and, most importantly, to discuss your request for halal meat with your Head Server prior to ordering. Due to limited galley space and preparation areas, special dietary requests may not be accommodated in quick-service food locations or room service. Guests who wish to have halal meat available on Disney’s private island of Castaway Cay should speak with their Head Server prior to arriving at the island.“

With various groups within the Muslim community that look for more specific information, we decided to find out where the Halal meat was being sourced from. Although we didn’t find the specifics, the Disney representative was more than happy to provide us with assurances that all meats were procured through various legitimate suppliers.

“Halal meat [..] served onboard Disney Cruise Line vessels is procured through independent vendors, who prepare and provide meat options which are consistent with strict Islamic tradition and halal doctrine. Due to our varying ports of call, wholesalers and seasons, the name of our vendors or companies providing halal meats vary. We do require advanced notice from Guests who are requesting halal meats, so we can do our best to accommodate their request.

If we have Guests who would like halal meats on their sailing, we request they notify the agent at time of booking.”

It is wonderful to see such companies welcoming Muslims to bring their values on-board while enjoying their services. Disney is sure to benefit from young families looking to experience a moment of Disney magic.
